Coleen Gallagher owner of Coleen’s Pet Salon, Daycare and Training Centre

After many years of working in business focusing on new business development and maintaining good customer relations, I decided to set up my own business, Coleen’s Pet Salon, Daycare and Training Centre. I wanted to incorporate my passion and love of animals into my work life and went back to train as dog groomer. I achieved my City & Guilds qualification in dog grooming with the focus of running my own business. Growing up with pets from the day dot, and having my own pets in adulthood, has given me a great understanding of how our little furry friends work and why they should be treated with the upmost care and respect throughout their little lives.  After 6 years in business, we are now expanding into Doggie Daycare at our new facility in Clane. After lockdown and talking to some of my customers I realised some people were struggling with going back to work and leaving their dogs at home alone. I decided to open our own doggie daycare to give our customers an option of a helping hand if they needed it. I went back to study dog training and obtained my QQI qualification in dog training in Creedon’s College in Cork, have done numerous courses with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers and I am constantly updating my education to keep up to date with the latest recommended training techniques.
